End of year show at college

End of year show

Here is me with some of my work in the exhibition displayed at college. These are two of my pieces of work I am definitely most proud of.

I hope that on my course next year at university I will continue to broaden my skills in graphic design and gain more knowledge to help me become an all round better designer.

Helping put up our end of year exhibition

DIY

As a course we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to display out work at a empty building in the centre of Canterbury.
We spent a week putting in team work to tidy up the place, paint walls, fill in holes, clean, hoover, and finally display our work.
It was good fun getting stuck in and getting covered in paint. We all put huge amounts of effort in to make sure we made showed how proud we were for all our hard work over the two years.

Me with my Type poster
Here is me at the end of year show with my A1 final piece. It was a lovely evening to gather together with all my classmates and our tutors with out friends and family to show all out hard work. It was good to show all our diverse styles of design. Some of us showing our strengths in illustration, others showing their skills in advertising and type and other simply for their fantastic ideas and concept.

I look forward to displaying my work in the show at college where I will have 3 pieces of my work displayed.

FMP OUTCOMES

Final FMP magazine cover
This is my final FMP magazine cover which I created using a range of experimentation such as photography, letterpress and collage.

I really like how I've captured the right audience with my use of communication with imagery and content/layout elements.

I worked very hard producing my magazine and it's spreads and I hope it shows.

I absolutely loved my magazine project and thoroughly enjoyed working on it each day. I have realised magazine design is where passion is for design. I hope in the future I could work for a magazine designing layouts and content to feature in it.

Here are my final page spreads which I made and designed to go in my magazine.
If you have any feedback for me that would be much appreciated :)

FMP trip to Somerset House in London

We visited London with college to go to the graphic design and visual arts exhibition at the Somerset house in London.

There was plenty of very creative and talented pieces of work in the exhibition. Ranging from illustrations to screen prints etc.

You could also buy first hand copies which gave the exhibiton that personal touch.

I particularly liked the magazine illustrations with the doodles over the top. This was interesting to see how different styles of magazines were presented using different methods and techniques. Personally I am not an illustrator myself but this is clearly very effective and could have been another alternate for the style of my magazine.

This style is very modern and contemporary which is unlike anything you see often in normal standard shops.

Whilst I was in London, I also visited Oxford Street and asked permission to take pictures of girls style/outfits I liked for a resource of material for my collages for the spreads in my magazine.

FMP influences

I have been very busy in the last 10 weeks with my FMP Project. I chose to base my FMP around a womens street style fashion magazine in a grungy collage/david carson style.
My influences were largely from the layout and presentation of a magazine named 'Company'. They use a unique interesting and intricate way of presenting layout and type.

This kind of style has a handmade edgy feel to it for teenage and young adults. The magazine is very visual and imaginative with it's bold bright colours/type/headings etc.

This style fascinates me and I would love to one day be working for a magazine myself like this designing and coming up with new creative ideas for this.
